RBMA Session: múm

  • Saturday 18 17:30 - 18:45

SonarComplex by Red Bull Music Academy - Kaldalón

Formed in 1997 by Örvar Smárason and Gunnar Tynes, for the last two decades múm has been a staple in the Icelandic experimental and electronic community. Having produced seven albums and several diverse collaborations since their inception, including working with Kylie Minogue, German pianist Hauschka and the MDR Sinfonieorchester in Leipzig, the band is known for an exploratory and exuberant approach to music, highlighted especially on their latest LP, 2013’s Smilewound, which was nominated for the Nordic Music Prize. In this lecture, taking place as part of Sónar Reykjavik, host Matthias Már Magnússon of RÚV will speak to the founding band members about their musical journey so far.
