Sónar Reykjavík takes place March 16th and 17th, with special warm up events happening in Reykjavík the 14th & 15th. We're now expanding this program to include a showcase by local label Thule Records, considered by many to be a pioneers in the field of dub-influenced techno music and was a starting point for many of Iceland‘s most renowned electronic musicians.
Wednesday, the 14th of March will see bbbbbb, the label headed by Icelandic techno prodigy Bjarki, host a showcase in Lucky Records featuring performances by Bjarki himself, Volruptus, Lord Pusswhip & EOD. bbbbbb was established last year according to its own account to fill a gap in the Icelandic dance music scene, with main goals of “promoting innovation of music that necessarily cannot be categorized as house or techno etc.”
On Thursday, March 15th we'll have two more local labels showcase both local and international talent. During the day you can come by Lucky Records once again for a showcase from Thule Records who have been releasing techno chart toppers in the last year. In the evening, FALK Records, one of the main pillars in Iceland’s DIY music scene, will bring stellar performances in Reykjavík's Húrra Bar featuring Varg, Zíur, IDK/IDA, Lord Pusswhip & Xarg.
A third event will take place on Thursday evening when Red Bull Music Academy, who is presenting their own stage at Sónar Reykjavik 2018, will be welcoming festival guests to a special Warm-Up event on the Thursday at the old Living Art Museum space at Skúlagata, next to KEX Hostel.
