Halldór Eldjárn is a unique artist, that uses algorithms and programming to create one of a kind experiences.
At Sónar Reykjavík 2019 he will perform a live version of his piece Poco Apollo, which is an online generative music experience, along with a string quartet and live electronic percussion. There are 14,228 songs in total and you can listen to them at pocoapollo.hdor.is. A selection of 4 of them will be performed at the concert.
Poco Apollo is essentially a computer program, that creates short music pieces from photos taken on the moon. The program analyses the photos and composes music that fits the mood of the picture.
