Red Bull Music Academy brings Vatican Shadow, Oddisee, Pan Daijing and more to Sónar Reykjavik 2017

Red Bull Music Academy returns to Sónar Reykjavík for the third consecutive year, showcasing a hand-picked selection of trailblazing talent, many of them alumni of previous Academy editions. Like last year, the Red Bull Music Academy will host its own stage, SonarComplex, with a mixture of local and international talent.

Sónar's ethos of seeking out eclectic, future-leaning talent has always gelled perfectly with Red Bull Music Academy's vision. The Academy has maintained a long-running partnership with Sónar for over a decade. By bringing its curatorial expertise to the Icelandic edition of Sónar, the Academy gives credit to the thriving local music scene and the festival itself.

Among the artists confirmed for Red Bull Music Academy's SonarComplex stage are Academy alumnus and hip-hop veteran Oddisee, noise and techno master Dominick Fernow under his Vatican Shadow guise, as well as Pan Daijing, Marie Davidson and Johan Carøe – all of them graduates of the most recent Red Bull Music Academy in Montréal.

From the vibrant Icelandic scene, the stage will feature the debut solo performance of Örvar Smárason from múm and FM Belfast, new hip-hop sensations HRNNR x Smjörvi and abstract electronic composer SiGRÚN amongst many others.
